The Indomitable lions of Cameroon considered by many before as the underdogs of the Africa Cup of Nations say they believe in for surprise victory in the AFCON final on Sunday against Egypt.
No body believed in this team made up of little known players. The players now claim they were sure to go far in this competition.
“Be reassured that during preparation we were sure to go far in this competition. Among us we had inner confidence which made us feel we will do so. You can ask ten other players and they will tell you that we had this confidence . Therefore what has happened is not a surprise at all for us. I know it could be a surprise for others but deep within us we were confident,” Cameroon’s striker, Vincent Aboubakar said.
Now the team has been busy in Libreville dotting their i’s and crossing the t’s in preparation for the AFCON final against Egypt on Sunday.
Cameroon’s performance was at its peak in 2000, dropped for sometime, came up again in 2008 before remaining dormant until now.
Cameroon’s performance has been particularly shocking after 7 players failed to show up after been called up by Hugo Broos who remains confident in new talent.
Hugo Broos says he has never worked with a team like the indomitable lions during his 29 years coaching experience.
