According to UN sources 6,000 Tunisians are said to have joined armed groups abroad, with most going to fight in Iraq, Syria and Libya. Currently, the Tunisian government is stemming the flow of people joining jihadists abroad by tightening border security after passing a law that gives it more power to detain suspects and tap phones, among other things.
