Africa's version of "Salt Bae" [This is Culture]

The Morning Call

Nusret Gokce is a Turkish chef who got into the spotlight due to his strangely sensual instagram videos.

Africa has also not been left behind since it also has its version of “salt bae”. His name is Seth Gor, a Kenyan comedian who doesn’t necessarily slice an “Ottoman steak. His is his own version, an original version. He too posted a video on instagram and what was he slicing? No he was chopping an avocado.

Henna tattooing is a trend that dates back as far as Ancient Egypt. It was said that Cleopatra used henna to adorn her body and Egyptians used the dye to paint the nails of mummies before they were buried.

Several women across the continent practice this culture in a bid to look beautiful in the eyes of their husbands.

Examples of communities practising this culture are the Peul and Hausa communities in Northern Cameroon, the Fulani tribe in West Africa and among the Malinke people in Ivory Coast. Other countries include Senegal, Guinee, Nigeria and even Ghana.
