Comoros
Azali Assoumani has been sworn-in as president of Comoros after he was declared winner of the presidential election by the constitutional court on May 15.
He won 40.98 percent of the vote ahead of Ali Soilihi and Moigni Baraka.
He has promised to make Comoros better for all citizens.
“The best solution is to develop the country for the interest of the whole region. That explains why we are fully engaged in the socio-economic development of the country,” Assoumani told pressmen.
Comoros youth expect a lot from Azali Assoumani. Many want an improved access to water and electricity as basic necessities.
“Let him solve the unemployment because we keep doing internships and are not paid. We are really suffering. After finishing our studies we have nothing to do,” one job seeker said.
Azali Assoumani first came to power through a coup in 1999 before winning the presidential election three years later. He takes over from Ikililou Dhoinine.
