Crowds of joyful French fans joined by airport staff gathered at Paris’ Charles de Gaulle airport on Monday (July 16) to await the return of their World Cup winning football team, who will be honoured with a parade along the Champs Elysees and a special presidential reception.
Team captain Hugo Lloris was first off the plane brandishing the trophy and greeted by airport staff before a team photo on the tarmac.
Les Bleus then headed to Paris where they were expected to parade in an open-top bus to the Elysee Palace where French President Emmanuel Macron was to hold a reception in their honour.
Les Bleus were welcomed as heroes at the parade where crowds had waited all afternoon before a reception at the Elysee presidential palace with President Emmanuel Macron.
