Two groups of the DRC armed forces were attacked on Thursday in North Kivu province.
The FARDC troops based in Kalau, about 15 km northeast of Beni town was attacked at 6 o’clock.
“It was around 7.30 local time that the bullets began to crackle at the outskirts of the city.” The armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo as well as the National Police are set to recover the situation as you can see for yourself , the situation is now under control, said the mayor of Beni town, Nyonyi Bwanakawa.
After about 45 minutes of violent clashes, another group of assailants launched an attack on the FARDC troop in Rwangoma, a popular neighborhood of Beni.
A shell fell in a school where students were sitting for their state exams. At least 5 were wounded.
FARDC who regained control of the city suspect the Mai Mai of being at the origin of this attack. This might evoke a new rebellion.
This attack is coming less than two weeks after the escape of prisoners from the central prison of Beni.
