Ethiopia’s Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn met Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday, during a three-day visit to the region.
The two leaders pledged to enhance cooperation in various fields including water, agriculture and security especially in the wake of the global terror threat.
“Part of Ethiopia is arid. We know that Israel has converted desert into oasis and this is because of the Israeli technology and we want to transfer this technology to my country ,“said Ethiopian PM Hailemarian Desalegn.
While Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu stressed on the need to work together.
“We have increased our economic cooperation and I look forward to deepening that today, particularly in water, this is an area that Prime Minister Desalegn knows particularly well, he is a great engineer of water and he understands the full potential of what can be done with it, and agriculture as well, and health and security and all these areas and many others.”
The two countries have increased economic cooperation since Netanyahu’s historic visit to Ethiopia in July last year.
In addition to strengthening bilateral ties, Desalegn, on his first official visit to Israel, also laid a wreath at Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial Museum in Jerusalem.
