This week saw a Ghanaian Referee, one Joseph Odartei Lamptey being slapped with a lifetime FIFA ban after he was found guilty of match manipulation. Lamptey wrongly awarded South Africa a penalty in 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying match between the Bafana Bafana and Senegal in November last year.
Being at the centre of matchday decisions is not easy, to be fair to match officials, given the pace and intensity of the modern game technology is needed to help referees get more decisions correct. That’s our interest today – using technology to aid referees to make the right calls.
