Interpol issues "red notice" for North Koreans in murder mystery

Interpol has issued a “red notice”, the closest instrument to an international arrest warrant, for four North Koreans wanted over last month’s murder of Kim Jong Nam.

According to Malaysian police, the estranged half-brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un was killed when two women smeared super toxic VX nerve agent on his face. Security footage showed the women attacking him in the departure hall of Kuala Lumpur International Airport. He died within 20 minutes.

Investigators are holding the pair in custody and suspect that four North Korean nationals who were at the airport on the day of the incident are now in Pyongyang.

North Korea denies the victim was Kim Jong Nam because he was carrying a diplomatic passport bearing another name.

South Korea and the United States believe he was murdered by Pyongyang after speaking out publicly against his family’s dynastic control of the country.
