Betway confirmed that plans were underway for Kwame – who lives in Ghana’s second biggest city of Kumasi, to receive a one-off payment later this month. They added that he will be offered a financial planner to advise him.
The state-owned Daily Graphic reports that his winnings could have risen to over $340,000 if his final bet was recorded. But he didn’t play in the Chelsea – West Ham game on Monday night.
The leagues he placed his bet on included the English Premier League, The Spanish La Liga, the Italian Serie A, German Bundesliga and French Ligue 1.
Betting companies have been operating in Ghana in the recent past. The heightened interest of most Ghanaians in Europe’s top leagues has given their operations a boost. Most of these betting companies have televisions that screen LIVE matches of these games.
