Eye witness accounts say the blast happened after the attacker positioned his car early Monday morning near an army recruitment centre.
Aden is temporary capital of Yemen’s Gulf-backed government and has been the target of jihadists attacks.
Hundreds of Yemeni soldiers have been trained over the past two months as the government intensifies its onslaught to recapture southern provinces from jihadists. The Yemeni government forces have faced an uphill task in efforts to recapture major towns across Abyan, following tough resistance at Al-Mahfid, a key Al-Qaeda stronghold.
