World Anti-Doping Agency rubber stamps the 'The Independent McLaren Investigation Report'

Following the release of a damning report by a highly respected Canadian lawyer Richard McLaren, World Anti-Doping Agency WADA has called for the exclusion of Russia from all international events including the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.

Dubbed the ‘The Independent McLaren Investigation Report’, the document indicates that Russia’s government, security services and sporting authorities colluded to hide widespread doping across “a vast majority” of winter and summer sports.

“The Moscow laboratory was operated for the protection of athletes doped with the complicity of the state, a cheating system that we have described as being contrary to good behavior. Second, the laboratory has helped replace Socthi samples, to enable Russian athletes doped to participate in the winter games. Third, the Russian Ministry of sports led, controlled and supervised the handling of test results and swapping samples,” said Dr. McLaren during a news conference.

According Mclaren, doping does not only concern the Russian athletics. Thirty other sporting codes are involved.

The International Olympic Committee had previously said it could impose tough new sanctions against Russia over the Rio 2016 Games.

The results of a Russian appeal to the court of arbitration for sport in Lausanne will be revealed on Thursday.
