Ivory Coast international Serge Aurier will make a court appearance on September 26 for an alleged assault on a police officer.
The 23-year-old Paris Saint-Germain player has denied the charge and has counter-filed a complaint against the police.
The supposed incident occurred in the Champs Elysees area in Paris in the early hours of Monday after leaving a nightclub.
His club says they will wait for further information before making any comment.
This is not the first time he is having an issue with the law.
Coach Laurent Blanc briefly suspended Aurier in mid-February after he posted a video online in which he insulted Blanc and fellow PSG players, including Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Angel Di Maria.
