French President Emmanuel Macron sought to reassure the U.N. High commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi on Monday (October 9), saying France would honour it’s commitments to aiding refugees by offering 10,000 places for resettlement and additional financial support.
Grandi met Macron at the Elysee palace in Paris where the two said they discussed solutions and future measures to be taken to alleviate the plight of refugees in Europe and elsewhere.
In September Macron already laid out some of his plans regarding migrants and refugees during a speech at the Sorbonne where he said he wanted a European programme to finance integration and training for refugees.
