LeBron James issues powerful response after racist vandals [Sport]

The Morning Call

LeBron James on Wednesday issued a powerful response after alleged racist vandal(s) spray-painted his Los Angeles home with racial slur. Police are investigating the incident as a hate crime, according to reports.

Speaking to reporters for the NBA Finals media day, James said the incident “goes to show that racism will always be a part of the world, a part of America.”

Victor Muisyo has gathered more of his comments in this episode.

FIFA U-20 WORLDCUP: ZAMBIA THROUGH TO QUARTERS

In football, things are heating up at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in South Korea. Two African teams had managed to advance to the knockout rounds. Zambia had emerged top of Group C while Senegal finished second in Group F. In the Round of Last 16 Zambia survived a heart-stopping encounter to see off Germany 4-3 after extra-time to progress to their first Fifa U-20 World Cup quarterfinal on Wednesday.

In the other Match Senega lost 1-0 to Mexico and have therefore crushed out of the tournament. We have the highlights.

CAF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE ACTION

Back home; CAF Champions League action returns this weekend. Egyptian giants, Zamalek, are targeting maximum points and a step towards the knockout round, when they play hosts to Algeria’s USM Alger on Match day 3 on Friday in Alexandria.

Zamalek currently top Group B with four points, one more than their Algerian opponents after two games. Other matches today will feature Zimbabwe’s CAPS United who’ll be hosting Libyan outfit Ahly Tripoli in Harare. Defending Champions Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa also have a date with Tunisian side Esperance this evening in Pretoria.

There’ll be more action on Saturday. Clube Ferroviario da Beira of Mozambique will be entertaining Sudan’s El Merreikh in Beira. Zambia’s Zanaco FC welcome Cameroon’s Coton Sport in Lusaka, before the last match of the day that will pit Tunisia’s Etoile du Sahel and El Hilal from Sudan.

In Addis Ababa on Sunday St Georges will be hosting AS Vita Club from DR Congo. The expected match of the weekend will be the last on Sunday…Egyptians go neck and neck with the Moroccans; Al Ahly against Wydad Casablanca in Alexandria.
