Burundi
The UN Committee against Torture has urged Burundi to look into repeated reports on cases of abuse and extrajudicial killings along ethnic related lines.
The committee says they have reports which suggest that the torture and murder in Burundi is politically motivated.
The recommendations were made after a review of torture reports in July with committee officials blaming Burundi for failing to provide follow-up information as requested.
Burundian officials have been urged to take the reports seriously to prevent this from turning into genocide.
President Pierre Nkurunziza’s government is expected to submit a report on the implementation of all the recommendations by October 12 this year.
