Former Swansea flop Eder scored in extra time for Portugal as the underdogs overcame hosts France in Paris to win the Euro 2016 final at the Stade de France.
France were looking to win their third European Championship title, while Portugal gunned for their first ever Euro title.
Didier Deschamps’ men started as favourites, after they saw off Germany 2-0 in the semi-finals and will have a huge backing from the home crowd.
Portugal who ended Wales’ dreams of European glory in the semi-finals, also 2-0, were looking to avoid a repeat of the 2004 final when they were shocked by outsiders Greece.
