Portugal
As the Euro 2016 football tournament winds down, Portugal is hoping to clinch the cup in the upcoming finals on Sunday.
Portuguese players are treating the match as the game of their lives and if they emerge victorious, it will be the first time that the team will take an international title.
“I’m certain that the whole group will think of it as the game of their lives because Portugal have never won a title,” said Portugal midfielder, Joao Mario.
“We can go down in Portuguese history. There is nothing like playing in a competition like this for our country,” he added.
Portugal will meet hosts France in the finals.
They haven’t beaten France since 1975 and their fans are waiting in bated breath to see whether they will eat the gallic rooster, in reference to the French national symbol.
“Now we have this match on Sunday, as we say, cockerel is the French symbol, so we will be eating the cockerel,” said Manuel a Portuguese fan who resides in France.
