A 42 year old author, Gilda Rosemonde Moutsara Gambou has filed her candidacy for the upcoming March 20, presidential election in the Republic of Congo.
This makes her the second female presidential candidate in the country’s history.
Her candidacy has increased the number of candidates vying for the election to 9.
“My candidacy for the presidential election on March 20, 2016 is primarily an act of conviction. Indeed, I am convinced that the time has come for a new generation to show the whole country and the world that they are ready to take the relay baton,” Moutsara Gambou told reporters.
Moutsara, 42, author of many books is a member of the “Free Conscience” opposition party.
She has promised to give hope to the Congolese which according to her need “deliverance” from “undue poverty” and “misery”.
Angèle Bandou was the first woman to become a presidential candidate in the Republic of Congo in 1992 and 2002.
