Chad included in Trump's latest travel ban

The number of African countries affected by the United States travel ban has increased by one. The latest African nation affected is Chad.

According to earlier executive orders signed by President Trump, Somalia, Sudan and Libya, were the three African countries affected by the ban. Effectively, business and tourist visas for Chadians have been suspended.

Chad is joined by two other nations – North Korea and Venezuela, on the latest ban list signed by President Trump on Sunday. “Making America safe is my number one priority. We will not admit those into our country we cannot safely vet,” Mr Trump said.

The inclusion of Chad is hinged on the failure of Ndjamena to share terrorism-related and other crucial information the U.S. required, the White House confirmed.

Trump signed the order on March 6 banning travelers from six Muslim-majority countries – Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen – for 90 days and locked out most aspiring refugees for 120 days.

According to him, it was part of efforts aimed at preventing terrorist attacks on the U.S. Courts have limited the scope of Trump’s order. One such instance is a ruling by the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals which said grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins of legal U.S. residents would be exempt from the travel ban.
