About 30 heads of state and government from around the world are expected to attend the 16th Francophone (Francophonie) Summit in Madagascar.

The summit that brings together mostly French-speaking nations, will be held on Saturday and Sunday.

Secretary General of the Organization Michaelle Jean calls for more humanism in the face of the refugee crisis.

“We represent a number of countries, and half of the countries that are represented in the United Nations. We have a strong partnership and strong relation with the United Nations for a number of years. We are a political organization which also acts in accordance with the rules and action on all emergencies of the world,” he said.

He said that the institution plays a major role on the world political scene adding that Its objective is to be an indispensable partner for international organisations in the resolution of global crises.

The heads of State which are expected to meet in the Malagasy capital will discuss around the theme of shared growth, responsible development and conditions of stability of the world and of the Francophone.
