Tunisia
Seven terrorists have been killed in a deadly raid by the Tunisian army and security forces near Ben Guerdan, the Interior Minister has announced.
This follows a jihadist attack on Monday at Ben Guerdan near the border with Libya.
“During a raid at Guerdane, security forces and the army eliminated five terrorists around Benniri,” the minister said in a press release.
Local media reports indicated that the security forces surrounded a house in which the men were hidden but this information was not highlighted in the ministry’s release.
The announcement comes after 36 jihadists, 12 security forces and 7 civilians were killed on Monday in a military operation against the terrorists.
Tunisia’s Prime Minister, Beji Caid Essebsi said on Tuesday: “We won a battle but we have not yet won the war. The war against terrorism continues. We have mobilized all our resources, the state has been equipped to support our national army and forces.”
