Sudan has been named the host country of the 2016 Council of East and Central Africa Football Association (Cecafa) Senior Challenge.
Cecafa Secretary General, Nicholas Musonye while making the announcement said the game will be held in Khartoum in September this year.
Musonye said Sudan will host East and Central Africa’s first ever pre-Olympic qualifiers tournament this year, ahead of the African Olympic football qualifiers in the Democratic Republic of Congo next year.

Media reports indicate that the country last hosted the regional tournament in 2013.
Cecafa has also announced its five-year strategic plan that will place an emphasis on youth/ women’s football and technical development.
Meanwhile, Somali Football Federation president Abdiqani Said Arab has been appointed Cecafa vice-chairman.
According to Cecafa, Uganda will stage the Cecafa Under-17 and Women’s Championship this year, while Burundi will host the Under-20 event.
Sudan is also expected to host Cecafa’s maiden Nile Basin Winners Cup in May and June this Year.
