The Pharaohs of Egypt are the continent’s best football side when it comes to men’s national team. This is according to the latest ranking by football’s global governing body, FIFA.
Despite being tops in Africa, the FIFA/Coca Cola ranking released on Thursday July 6, 2017; placed Egypt at the 24th position on the global ladder.
Of significant note is the dominance of West African teams in the top 10. Five countries – Senegal, Burkina Faso, Nigeria, Ivory Coast and Ghana made the top 10 list.
Algeria and Tunisia joined Egypt as north Africa’s representatives whiles reigning Afican Cup of Nations (AFCON) champions, Cameroon and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) completed the list.
DRC recorded the biggest leap for the month, moving 13 places up. Ivory Coast dropped 9 places and Cameroon 4 spots down.
