Washington began celebrations on Thursday night, with dinners and a “Make America Great Again” concert.
Donald John Trump takes office as the 45th President of the United States of America. He will be sworn in by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, John Roberts.
President Trump will then be known, will then give his inaugural address from the steps of the Capitol.
There will then be a break as Trump and his vice president Mike Pence have dinner with Congress, before the Trump and Pence families take the 2.4km walk down Pennsylvania Avenue to the White House.
However there are protests against the Trump presidency, both in Washington DC and around the world.
