Pressure is mounting on Eritrea for the release of some prominent opposition leaders and journalists arrested 15 years ago. Security forces arrested 11 government officials, 10 journalists, and others who were branded dissidents by the administration. The government has however hit back at rights groups including the United Nations saying its actions were justified as it was a matter of national security.
