206 countries and the Refugee Olympic Team are participating in the 2016 Rio Olympic Games that opened on Friday, August 5 at the Maracana stadium in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil.
Over 11,000 athletes are participating in 306 events of 28 sports.
The 54 African countries participating in the Olympic Games are expected to garner a number of medals by the end of the event on August 21.
