Saint-Tropez bids farewell to Brigitte Bardot

A private Catholic service was held at the Notre-Dame-de-l’Assomption church, attended by close family, friends and figures linked to her life and causes. Outside, crowds lined the narrow streets and applauded as the hearse passed, while others followed the ceremony on screens at the port. Throughout the day, focused on her fierce defence of animals, alongside memories of her film career and the freedom she came to symbolise in the 1960s. She was later buried in a private ceremony at the marine cemetery overlooking the Mediterranean, near members of her family. A public homage followed, reflecting both admiration for her work and the divisions that marked her public life.
