French far-right presidential candidate Marine Le Pen visited the National Assembly in N’Djamena on Wednesday on the second day of her visit to Chad.
This is the first time Marine Le Pen is in Africa in an official capacity as Front National party leader, ahead of the French presidential elections set for next month.
“You will see that when I am in power, I will astonish the world, perhaps as Donald Trump has astonished the world. The world is surprised to see an elected president who respects his promises, I think it is frankness, uprightness, honesty … One is to be elected on his convictions and to be honest, apply your convictions when you come to power,” said the French presidential candidate.
Earlier in the day Le Pen met with French soldiers based there as part of the Barkhane anti-terrorism force.
She also held talks with President Idriss Deby on Tuesday to discuss the fight against jihadists in the Sahel region.
