US President-elect Donald Trump is making his son-in-law Jared Kushner a senior White House adviser.
According to transition officials the 35-year-old millionaire will work on trade deals and the Middle East.
Trump’s spokeswoman Kellyanne Conway described it in a tweet as the “Best news of the day”.

Kushner will resign from his positions as chief executive of the Kushner companies and as publisher of the New York Observer. His wife Ivanka Trump is to resign from directorships in the Trump organisation.
It is a controversial appointment because of nepotism laws. However Trump’s team argue that a law barring officials giving government jobs to relatives does not apply to White House positions.
Who is Kushner?
- Jared Kushner is a millionaire
- He owns 666 Fifth Avenue, a skyscraper in New York New and the newspaper the New York Observer
