U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry calls for united efforts in supporting teenage girls

Nigeria

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry on Wednesday encouraged non-governmental organisations to unite efforts in supporting teenage girls in Nigeria.

He said that the United States Agency for International Development has committed 100 million dollars to these efforts to be able to help teenage girls to make their own choices.

“I salute you for your courage, I salute you for your vision and your commitment to trying to help to change things and we want to work with you. USAID has committed a 100 million dollars to these efforts to be able to help people to make their own choices and to be educated about what those choices are and it won’t happen over night, it’s long hard work,” said Kerry.

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry held talks with President Muhammadu Buhari and northern religious leaders on tackling Boko Haram and the state of the country’s economy.
