Egyptian bitter rivals Al Ahly and Zamalek were kept apart in the group phase of this year’s CAF Champions League.
A draw held in Cairo Tuesday placed them in separate groups.
Ahly are in Group A and come up against Asec Mimosas of Ivory Coast, Moroccan side Wydad Casablanca and Zambian qualifiers Zesco United.
Zamalek lead Group B alongside 2014 champion Algeria’s Setif, Nigeria’s Enyimba and South African club Mamelodi Sundowns.
Sundowns were reinstated in the Champions League in place of AS Vita, who were found to have breached CAF rules.
Group matches start in June and end in August. The top two in each group will advance to the last four.
In the Confederation Cup, MO Bejaia, Young Africans, TP Mazembe and Ghana’s Medeama are housed in Group A while Etoile du Sahel, Kawkab, FUS Rabat and Ahly Tripoli are in Group B.
