Abdeslam planned to 'restart something' in Brussels - Belgian Foreign Minister

Belgian Foreign Minister Didier Reynders said that Paris attacks suspect Abdeslam told investigators he was planning to ‘restart something’ in Brussels. He added it maybe the reality as security forces found ‘a lot of weapons, heavy weapons’ during the operation which led to Abdeslam’s arrest on Friday in the Belgian capital.

Speaking at a forum in Brussels on Sunday the foreign minister also said that the suspect had a network around him.

He urged European intelligence, law enforcement and border authorities to exchange information in order to capture the suspects. Interpol issued a statement on Saturday calling on European countries to be vigilant along their borders as Abdeslam’s accomplices may attempt to flee and be on the lookout for fake passports. Many of the Paris attacks suspects were in possession of false identity documents.

Brussels remains on threat level 3, meaning there is a possible and real threat of attack.
