Dozens of protesters on Thursday gathered outside the Grand Hyatt hotel in New York to demonstrate against Republican front runner Donald Trump.
The protesters gathered ahead of the Republican party’s fundraising gala at the hotel which was to feature the billionnaire politician as well as the two other Republican presidential hopefuls.
The protesters carried several placards which criticised Trump’s immigration policies as well as his comments on labour.
They chanted ‘shut it down’, an indication of their desire to halt the event.
An anti-Trump protester, Nicole Poro said of Trump: “He’s not fooling all of us. He appeals to the worst in people and some people know better than to trust hate like that.”
RT.com reported that nearly a dozen protesters made it into the hotel, but were pulled out of the front door and put into a police van.
Several others were arrested outside the hotel, WCBS radio also reported.
