Migrants from Cameroon and Senegal in Libya have not lost hope of living their dreams sometime in future as football stars.
At the Tajoura migrant camp they have formed two teams representing the National squads of the two countries; the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon and the Teranga Lions of Senegal.
“I love football, when I watch Roger Milla, Samuel Eto’o, Didier Drogba, Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo playing, I tell myself I want to be like them too.” one of the migrants said.
The players had been selected from among 500 inmates who have languished in detention for months.
The Senegalese players wore green jerseys while their Cameroonian counterparts were dressed in orange.
At the end of the 90th minute of play, Cameroonian migrants carried the day with a 4-0 victory.According to UN statistics Libya hosts close to a million migrants with tens of thousands detained under inhuman conditions.
