The club announced in a statement on Monday that they had opened a disciplinary case against the 26-year-old, who would remain suspended until it was resolved.
In a statement released via their official website, Valencia said the club “has decided to open a disciplinary procedure involving player Sofiane Feghouli”.
“During the processing of said procedure, and awaiting the resolution of the matter, the player will be suspended as a cautionary measure in accordance with the current convention between the AFE and Liga de Fútbol Profesional.”
The 26-year-old, who was used as a second-half substitute on Sunday, also reportedly missed training last week.
Valencia are 13th on the table and still not yet mathematically safe from the threat of relegation.
The Algerian is out of contract in June.
