Senegal’s president Macky Sall has called on Africa to get its house in order in order to fulfill Africa Union’s agenda 2063 which calls for a global strategy to optimize the use of the continent’s resources for the benefit of all Africans.
While speaking to Africanews correspondent in Ethiopia, Antoine Galindo, on the sidelines of the AU Summit, the Senegalese head highlighted key areas that will propel the continent towards this dream which included harnessing agriculture, to ensure the continent is food secure.
According to the president, all Africans must play their part in building their continent.
“We should develop our human capital, education and training. I think the priorities are known to all, and we work daily towards this. Nepad is a body that aims to drive this “ he said.
Sall also urged countries to tap into the continent’s abundant resources in order to harness energy to power economic growth.
The 10 day summit which commenced on the 21st of January brings together 54 member states from Africa.
Various issues affecting the continent, ranging from terrorism to economic development, will be on the agenda.
