The Morning Call
India’s Mahatma Gandhi was the empire stretcher-bearer in the Boer war while the British occupied South Africa. This is one of the premises several academics in Ghana are using to campaign for the removal of a statue of Gandhi at the University of Ghana. They say he was racist toward black people taking note of his 21 years spent in South Africa where his legacy has also been questioned, fighting for the rights of the Indians living there at the time.
