Jailed South African track star Oscar Pistorius, who is serving six years in jail for murdering his girlfriend, has been treated in hospital for minor wrist injuries.
A prison spokesman confirmed the incident happened on Saturday and denied reports Pistorius had tried to kill himself.
Local media say he was rushed to hospital around midday on Saturday quoting a security guard as saying: “Pistorius had bad cuts to his wrists that had been bandaged.
Pistorius, an inmate alleged injured himself intentionally, with some also saying razor blades were found in his cell.
Pistorius has since been returned to the prison facility.
Pistorius, had his term for the Valentine’s Day 2013 killing of model girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp increased to six years in July after an initial five-year sentence.
Prosecutors have hinted they will appeal against the six-year term, which they have called “shockingly lenient”.
The 29-year old admits to killing Ms Steenkamp but said he mistook her for an intruder.
