American musician Madonna on Sunday visited the construction site of a paediatric hospital in Blantyre, Malawi.
The project is funded by her foundation “Raising Malawi” that was created in 2006 in favor of the protection of orphans and vulnerable children.
At completion, the hospital will be the first in Malawi with a unit supporting intensive pediatric care.
“Operation in the hospital is expensive. It will be my responsibility to ensure that this institution works properly in a continuous manner. So I have a lot to do! Wish me luck,” she said.
Madonna was accompanied by her two adopted children from Malawi, David and Mercy and her son Rocco.
She said she will continue to work to get the staff and the equipment needed for the hospital.
The pop star has been in Malawi for a week and is expected to meet with President Peter Mutharika and Health Minister Peter Kumpalume.
