S. Sudan: Red Army calls for expulsion of UNMISS Chief

The Chairperson of the South Sudan Red Army Foundation, Daniel Deng Bol Aruai, is calling for the expulsion of Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary General Ellen Margrethe Loj from South Sudan.

The move he said had become necessary because of Loj’s interference in the internal administrative issues of South Sudan and also by inciting communities against each other.

Deng also accused the UN special representative of making irresponsible, disrespectful and offensive remarks about the 28 states of South Sudan explaining that South Sudan is an independent republic whose sovereignty must be respected.

The UNMISS Chief at a press briefing on Wednesday said: “They are not promptly recognizing the 28 states, but they are dealing with the officials in those areas and on the ground because this is what they have to do on daily basis.”

She added that “this proposed states has led to ethnic tensions in many parts of the country especially in the former Upper Nile state, north of the country.”

The Red Army of South Sudan is made up of former child soldiers trained by the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement/Army during the struggle for independence.

The Red Army, referred to as “war veterans,” at an early age, made patriotic sacrifices and actively contributed to the cause of the freedom of the people of South Sudan.

Red Army Foundation is a membership-based, non-military, non-political, non-denominational, non-governmental, patriotic national social enterprise, established to bring Red Army members together to operate under one umbrella with the main objectives of organizing, serving, empowering, developing them, and above all preserving the Red Army Legacy of patriotism.

The Organization was formed in 2012 and is a legally registered foundation.
