Five African presidents have so far extended messages of congratulations to the French national team for winning the 2018 FIFA World Cup staged in Russia.
The four comprise three from West Africa (Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Mali), one from Southern Africa (Botswana) and the other from Central Africa (Gabon).
The leaders used their Twitter accounts to share their messages. It is expected that some more leaders will join the train subsequently.
France were on Sunday (July 15) crowned World Champions 20 years after they won the accolade when the country hosted the tournament in 1998.
The Les Blues proved superior to their Croatian counterparts in the final game played at the Luzhniki stadium. At the end of proceedings, France put four goals past Croatia, whiles the Croats could only manage to score twice.
