Zimbabwe: Mugabe still has some support

Zimbabwe: Mugabe still has some support

Zimbabwe

Even as the political situation in Zimbabwe remains uncertain, more and more calls for Robert Mugabe’s resignation continue to press. Zimbabweans however have divided opinions on the possibility of Mugabe vacating his office.

Harare resident, Lawrence Chingwaru says: “Yes he is old but we still love him, we have heard about his history from our fathers We have come a long way with him and personally I do not see anything wrong with this man.”

In Harare, just like in other parts of the country, the president is not lacking support. However, many Zimbabweans think that Mugabe must leave.

“My wish is to see President Mugabe resign, so maybe things would change. Look at where this road here. It was tarmac but now its not. We have a lot of potential but we are unemployed because of him and his wife, his children live in extravagance and dress with expensive clothes. A pair of shoes worn by Mugabe’s son can support us for the rest of our lives,” says Assis Takayendesa, another resident.

The ruling ZANU-PF party plans to introduce a motion in parliament to push the leader to resignation after almost four decades in office.
