Aspiring presidential candidates in the Republic of Congo are gearing up for campaigns across the country. Campaigns begins tomorrow ahead of voting on March 20.
The country’s Constitutional Court has already published the final list of candidates expected to vie for the presidency.
Incumbent President Denis Sassou Nguesso, is seeking re-election for a third term in office and will face eight other candidates.

A key candidates in the upcoming polls is General Jean-Marie Michel Mokoko who has retained the keen attention of many political observers. He has in recent months been alleged to plot a coup to oust the president. This follows a video currently in circulation that accuses him of the treasonable act.
The other candidates are André Okombi Salissa, Guy-Brice Parfait Kolélas, Claudine Munari, as well as Pascal Tsaty Mabiala. Anguios Nganguia Engambé, Joseph Kignoumbi Kia Mboungou and Michel Mboussi Ngouari.
The campaigns are slated to end on March 18.
