Elections
Difficult times lie ahead for Azali Assoumani in Comoros’ partial presidential elections in the Anjouan island on May 11.
Mougni Baraka , who came third in the second round with 19% has thrown his weight behind the candidate of the party in power, Ali Soihili who came second with 39.8 percent.
Close aides of Mougni Baraka do not seem happy with his decision which they consider as unilateral.
In return, they are promising to support Azali Assoumani who came first with about 40%.
Assoumani also enjoys the support of former president Mohammed Sambi, very famous in the Anjouan island where the repeat of the election in 13 localities is expected to be held on May 11.
The decision to reorganise the election in 13 localities was taken by the constitutional court following cases of violence in the island which prevented more than six thousand voters from making their choice.
