South Africa at fault for failing to arrest Al Bashir [The Morning Call]

President Omar al-Bashir does not have immunity from arrest and all states parties to the Rome statute must arrest him the minute he steps onto their territory and hand him over to the icc. Those were the findings that the ICC war crimes court delivered while ruling on oral hearings and written submissions by the ICC’s prosecutor and the government of South Africa after the country’s failure to arrest the Sudanese ruler when he visited the country in June twenty fifteen, on the eve of al-Bashir’s arrival in South Africa, the ICC had issued several calls for his arrest to the South African government.
