Foreign companies to carry waste outside Lebanon

Beirut will soon not be stinking, and its people of will soon be able to start breathing in absolute serenity.

Residents of the Lebanese capital have received well the solution proposed by the government to resolve the garbage crisis.

They now believe that using foreign companies to transport waste outside Lebanon, is the only fresh way out, with the Prime Minister announcing that the two companies would take care of this smelly business over the next 18 months.

“I think it was the best solution to take even if it is temporary. But we hope that we will not have to pay out of our pockets. We need this transportation of garbage to be their expense.

“There were no other alternatives, they tried several options, no region in Lebanon has agreed to receive household waste. We could not leave them in the streets so we had to make this decision to move forward.”

Beirut’s waste crisis began in July after the closure of the main dumpsite, from since which time, the Lebanese have regularly taken the streets to voice their grievances against the state’s incompetence.
