Malawi 'vampire' rumours and hunt [The Morning Call]

The Police in Malawi have arrested up to 200 vigilante youth, who have been out hunting for ‘vampires’ in the country.

Since September, nine people have been killed in a series of mob attacks over vampire rumours that sparked off in Southern Malawi.

In Blantyre, Malawi’s second largest city, a 22-year old man was stoned and burned to death over a week ago.

Medics in Malawi have said there is no truth or clinical evidence that blood suckers or vampires exist.

The UN has since declared parts of the country no-go zones.
