Explosions in Accra kill at least 7 people [The Morning Call]

At least seven people have died from huge explosions that rocked a fuel depot late saturday in a suburb of Legon, Accra Ghana’s capital.

A statement from the Information Ministry, released on Sunday, said 132 others were injured as a result of the incident.

It added about half of the injured had however been discharged from hospital.

The first blast reportedly triggered a second explosion and a fire at a petrol station nearby.

According to the information ministry, the cause of the explosion has not yet been determined,

but added an investigation had commenced and punitive measures would be taken to ensure such incidents are prevented in future.
