Zambia opposition decries State of Emergency [The Morning Call]

Zambian opposition lawmakers and other members are not amused by the country’s president step to invoke a constitutional that has put Zambia in a state of emergency because of market fires suspected to have been started by arsonists. According to them, it is a foul play to curb and restrict freedom of movement and put an end to dissent often characterized by demonstrations and public protests. According to Lungu, the emergency is meant to preserve peace, tranquillity, safety of our citizens and national security.
